Many people erroneously believe that the only jobs in hospitality management are those within the hotel industry. While there are many jobs in hospitality management that have to do with lodging, there are a number of other jobs in hospitality management as well.
One of the jobs in hospitality management that you might wish to pursue is that of catering. With a degree in hospitality management, you might start your own catering service. Or, you might find jobs in hospitality management that involve overseeing a catering business. These jobs in hospitality management may also be related to hotels as well since many hotels offer catering services. As such, you might pursue jobs in hospitality management that are with hotels but that focus on the catering aspect.
Other jobs in hospitality management include entertainment management and tourist attraction management. With jobs in hospitality management that focus on entertainment management, you might oversee the operations of an amusement park, a theater, or a music venue. With jobs in hospitality management that focus on tourist attractions, on the other hand, you might oversee the operations at a historical attraction, a landmark, or a natural park or setting.
Of course, there are plenty of jobs in hospitality management that focus on lodging as well. Some jobs in hospitality management that focus on lodging include that of the general manager, who is responsible for the overall operation of the lodging facility. In the case of large facilities, there may be several other jobs in hospitality management at the same facility. For example, there may be a person in charge of housekeeping, one in charge of the restaurants, one in charge of amenities, one in charge of budgeting, and so on. In this case, all of the positions are meant to work together and are responsible for answering to the general manager.
